About US

It is very hard to define who we are; it could be said AINA is a meeting of people who are united by the same goal: to help and sustain others in difficulty. Our diversity is one of AINA’s strengths, as we are enriched by the meeting and exchange of cultures.

Through cooperation we can achieve our common goal, to overcome suffering and empower disadvantaged people. We believe that by helping those who are much less fortunate than ourselves we can enhance both the way we live our own lives and the lives of others, and create a fairer more equal world in which we can all live.

“I do my thing and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, And you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful. If not, it can't be helped. ”

AINA represents an organisation built from the commitment and effort of diverse people who have come together in the knowledge that the collective contribution of many individuals can generate effective change for a better world.

The fundamental code of conduct we live by is to share, respect and listen to others, independent of their creed, sexuality, race or age. We believe that no matter the situation there is always a way to help when people unite towards a common goal. We also believe that self-sufficiency and socio-political development should not be implemented from above, instead it should be nurtured and grown from within the individuals and communities themselves.

Therefore, we utilise the existing resources and capabilities of the communities that we help to stimulate self-sufficient growth and empowerment.  We believe that participation in the lives of others should not seek to change or embetter that person, but enable that person to improve their own lives at their own pace.

AINA was born as a Roman charity but soon spread nationally due to the diversity of our sponsors, who are located all around Italy. We have since reached international status thanks to the support of American NGOs.

AINA is a non-political, non-religious organisation, however we share and respect the opinions, beliefs and values of all those we work with around the world.

Everyone who has ever worked with or for the organisation has made an impression on AINA’s history and continue to welcome people to our family. Today, the structure of the organisation consists of:

  • Board of Directors
  • A group of operational managers in Kenya
  • Sponsors and an extensive network of volunteers.
